I had a patient recently with a painful nipple bleb. She had a 7 month old baby that she was nursing. Of course, I suggested the usual treatments. Her friend had suggested she put some topical infant teething gel on it to numb it. I couldn't really think of a down side. Is there any reason that wouldn't be a good idea? Has anyone done this before? It must be safe for babies because it's made for babies. We used the warm compresses first to soften the skin. Then put a little cream on the bleb. It decreased her pain, she had the baby nurse and it cleared it. Has anyone else tried this before.
