Thought this little tidbit might be of interest. A friend told me her
7-yr-old son, who is above average intelligence, could sight read, but
was having troubles with phonics. He has been tested and the
psychologist told her that they are seeing a lot of kids, like hers, who
had numerous ear infections, who later have trouble with phonics and
they think there is a connection. Her son was only breastfed for about 8
weeks, but was *not* in daycare (cared for by an au pair). Ear
infections didn't start until he was weaned.
