Katherine,
No research from me but three years ago I used cabbage on my daughter's(9
years old) sunburn. She had spent the day with a friend and the friend's
mother let them stay out all day in their bathing suits. No sun screen was
used. It was the day before Easter Sunday and she could not wear her dress
I had made her. I just cried, she was in so much pain. As a last ditch
effort, I pulled the cabbage out of the fridge and went to work. I
plastered them all over her body. As they wilted I replaced them. Finally,
when she felt better, I sprayed her body with aloe vera. Megan was well in
a couple of days. The other little girl suffered for at least two weeks.
An excellent book to find other uses for cabbage is "Herbal Medicine" by
Dian Dincin Buchman. ISBN 0-517-32093-2.
Sincerely,
