 Regarding Listeriosis and cabbage leaves, we can minimize the potential of
the very small risk by first removing the outter leaves, washing the
cabbage, and microwaving until soft.  IMNSHO, this is not necessary if you
do what I do and keep a year round supply in your garden (one of the few
vegies that lives through winter here in Oregon).

If you are interested in classic public health case tracing, there's an old
book called ELEVEN BLUE MEN that is fascinating.
