Hello ladies,

I have an interesting problem. Why would a dr. not be concerned that
an infant isn't stooling? Baby is 12 days old and rarely poops. Last
stool was on Wed the 17th (day 8) and was a lighter brown. Stools
have never gotten lighter in color and have never been frequent or
copious. Wet diapers throughout the day.

I keep asking about stools and mother reports the dr. said not to
worry if the baby's belly isn't hard and baby isn't spitting up alot.
Quite a bit of our communication is via text which I know is less than
ideal. I have seen baby 3 times and baby appears healthy, has what
appear to be good feedings with obvious milk intake. Baby is satisfied
after a feeding for 1.5 to 2 hours and has periods of being very
alert.

Mother reports that she thinks the baby is going through a growth
spurt this past weekend. We are meeting tomorrow for a follow up.

I've been asking about stools since she came home from the hospital on
day 3. This mother is going to think that I'm obsessed with poop! She
has asked 2 mds in the same practice and neither are concerned. Any
insight would be greatly welcomed.

Forgot the weight gain - on day 10 baby was 3 oz under birth weight.
