Dear Yaffa,

Congratulations on getting the LC position ! The folks who voted you in for
the job unquestionably see you as a valued professional - try to focus on
this majority rather than on the one person who does not.
When I was a child, my wise mother taught me to *win and influence* people
with whom I was having a conflict - it began with a teacher I didn't get
along with in school. She got her ideas from a well known book called "How to
Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie.
When I struck a situation like the one you're in (say, a person who for her
own reasons didn't like me) she'd say : "Well, you'll just have to win and
inf. her" It became a family saying which I have passed on to my children.
Read the book and see if there isn't something in there that you can use for
this situation.

Good luck !

Beverley Rae (dashing about preparing for ILCA)
