Hi. Just got a call from a good friend of mine because she needs me to help
her with info. for her divorce settlement. She is breastfeeding her 4 1/2
year old daughter and dad is now saying it is not healthy or good for her.
When they were married he was very supportive of extended bfing and
attachment parenting. She is a LLL member and I have known her since her
daughter was 4 weeks old and I find this all very sad.

Anyway, I have read the archives which were very helpful. She has also
contacted LLLI and printed off Liz Baldwin's info (Thanks to Liz for what
she left behind that will continue to help mothers for years to come!).
She was also encouraged to contact Kathryn Dettwyler.

She asked if I would speak in court since her lawyer said a local expert
would help the case. I am very happy to do so and also have the chance to
educate the lawyers and others in the courtroom, but I am a little nervous
because I have never been in court before! Any words of encouragement or
tips for the courtroom would be much appreciated. The date is set for Sept.
11th.

Why is it that we are having to do all this work to prove that
breastfeeding is good? I think dad and his lawyers should be the ones doing
the research and looking for credible info that shows that extended
breastfeeding is bad. That would keep them busy since they would'nt find
anything! Thanks again for the support.

Christine Lichte, LLL Leader, CBE, waiting patiently for Oct. 17th!
