Linda: Peter Fleming, in the same (?infamous in regards to bf) study
which I recently referred to, found that 52.8% of the control babies had
used a pacifier on the night before the interview compared with 39.8% of
the SIDS babies using one on the night they died. Interestingly, the
routine use of pacifiers was no different between cases and controls,
only pacifier use on the night of death (or the night prior to interview for
the controls). Their finding was statistically significant. I'm not
aware of any other study looking at pacifier use in relation to SIDS.
Hope this helps. Alicia. [log in to unmask]
