Colostrum is high in Sodium.  Mine always tasted salty and was very yellow.  If the mother says it's colostrum and the mother is happy to feed it to her baby then feed it to her baby.  Remember, it is her baby.  Hospital staff don't get to override mothers' wishes based on a hunch.
