Diane,

Don't look at it as depressing.  You did all you could to help.  The mom
tried.  The baby is now being fed which is the most important thing, and mom
is planning to pump and feed her milk which is WONDERFUL!!  She should be
encouraged to try to continue to put baby to breast and bring on let-down
prior to it to encourage baby to latch, but if all attempts at getting baby to
breast fail, at least baby will still be getting mom's milk.  Pat yourself on
the back for a job well done!! At least this mom has grasped the importance of
her milk for baby.  :)
