I think it might be related to prostaglandins (PG). You can do a search of
prostaglandins and diarrhea, also prostaglandins and lactation, where there
is alot written about animal lactation. The role of prostaglandins is not
clear in lactation, it seems. But there is some info in our archives on
this. I do remember having discussions on this topic. (I also remember a
case of SEVERE diarrhea when I was given PG for uterine atony / postpartum
hemorrhage 18 yrs ago. )
It seems that indomethacin may be a treatment for this PG mediated
diarrhea, and possibly other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs might
also help. I think that also this may resolve on its own for this mother,
but if she feels she needs medical treatment, this is where I would look.
