Carol Brussel and I are doing a study on this, aren't we Carol?  Being able
to express milk years after the mother has no longer nursed is not uncommon.
We did this study just for the very reason of avoiding unnecessary tests on
these women.  Of course the hormonal studies are normal!  What a waste of
time and energy.  Just tell the mother to stop expressing her milk and the
problem is gone.  One LC I met at a conference said she could still express
milk 20 years after her last nursing.
