Hi,
I have a question about iodine supplements. Here in
Spain all pregnant and breastfeeding mothers must
take 200 micrograms of iodine a day, because we are an
endemic area for low iodine, and thus have a high
incidence of hypothyroidsm. This recommendation was
issued by the WHO a couple of years ago.
My question is, what other countries out there have
this recommendation? More to the point, my sister (who
is tandem breastfeeding a 1mo and a 2yo) has just
moved to Texas, USA and I would like to know if she
has to continue taking the iodine or if she will not
need it.
Thanks,
Kika
