My impression is that she was using the 5% as an upper extreme and the
patient population was likely drawn from her own practice. I don't have the
article, but the citation is Neifert, MR et al., "The influence of breast
surgery, breast appearance, and pregnancy-induced breast changes on
lactation sufficiency as measured by infant weight gain," Birth 17:31-38,
1990. (This was a prospective study.)
