Hi, Julie,

Here is a reference to an article in the nursing literature, and a web
page that I thought you might find interesting:

J Obstet Gynecol Neonatal Nurs 1999 Jul-Aug;28(4):365-9
Relief of breast engorgement for the Sabbath-observant Jewish woman.
Chertok I
Israel Childbirth Education Center.

Abstract: "Relief of breast engorgement on the Sabbath is a challenge for
the Sabbath-observant Jewish client. Many Sabbath laws limit the methods
of care for the engorged breastfeeding woman. With a familiarity of the
laws of the Sabbath, the health care provider can better address the needs
of the engorged Sabbath-observant Jewish woman. In this article,
interventions are proposed that mitigate or preclude violation of the
Sabbath."

And this web page called, Breastfeeding Bible Study, has some New
Testament references but maybe you could use those from the Old:

Good luck with your project!
