Hi All,
Have a hypothetical situation I'd like to discuss.

You are an LC. A local pump rental station has a client who needs an LC
badly. (You have known the other gal for almost 2 years and she is a
responsible person who knows her limits) She has rented this client a pump
for one week, and strongly encouraged her to get help, so she calls you, one
of the people the other gal referred to her.
After 2 visits, it is clear that this baby has a big prob, and the mom is
going to need a pump longer than a week. Mom tells you that she has already
agreed to extend the pump rental to one month with the other gal, who is also
giving her lots of emotional support. You are able to give this mom a pump
on a grant. Do you:

A) Offer the mom a grant pump telling her to just return the other one,
without talking to the other gal yourself?
B) Call the other gal and talk to her, letting her know that this mom will
need a pump for another month, and can she offer the mom a grant?
C) If the other gal can offer a grant, do you talk the mom into getting the
pump from you anyway, or do you encourage her get it from the other gal?
D) If the other gal cannot offer the mom a grant, do you just talk the mom
into getting the pump from you, or do you ask the other gals permission
before talking to the mom, making sure that she is OK with the arrangement?

Next:
You are the other gal. The LC chooses (A). What do you do?

This is very important to me as professional ethics are a big "thing" of
mine, and I would appreciate any feedback either on the list or in private.

Thanks!

Jay
