I thought I'd share a proud moment. My almost 14 year old son saw me on
lactnet tonight and of course commented that I spend a lot of time on
Breastfeeding. He then went on to relate what happened in school this week. He
said, "Mom you'd be proud of me. The football players were talking about kids
on the team that get sick a lot and I chimed in and said they were probably
never breastfed!" He then went on to descrribe the discussion that followed
and how he related to them the benefits and how he was breastfed and is rarely
sick! He said the kids were giving him strange looks but did talk briefly
about it! He then questioned himself as to why he braught it up at all and I
reminded him that he braught it up because he knows it to be true from living
with his mother LC and that he is a kid very in tune with exercising his body
and eating well and staying fit.
I can just picture the whole thing in my mind and how the other kids , young
adolescent boys must have had a million jokes over the conversation but I was
so proud that my son realizes the importance at such a young age . Hopefully ,
the next generation will have even more support and acceptance in society than
I did when I was breastfeeding him.
