I would be questioning the need for this practice. Surely these boys/men to
be
may like to be involved in such an irreversible decision-why not wait until
they can choose?

Circumcisions are no longer performed at the hospital in which I work. In
fact, it is
very difficult to find a Dr to perform one, unless for religious
reasons,and since the mothers and babes go home on Day 3, they are
performed in the Drs rooms.

When they were performed years ago,there were no restrictions on
breastfeeding.

The midwife was there to hold the baby down while the foreskin was cut
away.
No local anaesthetic was used, the distressed baby yelling in pain with the
midwife unable to offer any comfort to him. Thankfully those days are over!

Or are they only over, here? Heaven forbid!
