First of all, the "gassy parts" I assume are the same parts that flavor
breastmilk. Research does show that what we eat does flavor our milk,
color our milk....... I'm not sure what part it is, but at least those
supporting facts are clear.

Secondly, why should some foods cause problems? Well, why do we have
allergies, anyway?

It is my belief that we see more problems here in the U.S. because we are
a variety of immigrants from a variety of backgrounds with a variety of
foods. We do know that each people have their own native foods, and we
know that various populations may be intolerant of foods from other parts
of the world. We intermarry, and roll the genetic dice. On top of this
you can overlay the fact that newborn babies' guts are like loosely woven
nets that tighten up only after a couple of months; therefore, more
potential allergens are going to pass through this net and cause
reactions in the early newborn period. Makes perfect sense to me, and
though we can't pin all problems on this, it certainly explains a lot of
them.
