I have been asked by The Institute for Disability Studies, a department at
the University of Southern Mississippi, to assist them in gathering
information on the relationship of breastfeeding to proper brain
development as well as all aspects of early childhood development.
They presented a workshop on brain development at the last Mississippi
Public Health Association Conference for professionals. It was brought to
their attention they did not discuss how breastfeeding/breastmilk impacted
proper growth and development. The Institute is going to be presenting
this workshop around the state of Mississippi to social workers, nurses,
physicians, early intervention coordinators, nutritionists, etc. beginning
in November.
I meet with the coordinator for this program on Thursday, Oct 2. Can any
of you help me with this? I am familiar with the study done by Lucas in
England with preemies. I will of course mention anytime a child is
healthy, optimal learning takes place.
I appreciate you help. Camille Foretich, BS, IBCLC, CHES
