While catching up on my posts today, I was disturbed to read about the doc's
advice for the 2 month old who was not having bowel movements. I was glad to
read Meg's story about her baby who didn't have *any* to speak of (though I
would certainly say that that is on the very far end of normal).

It is so very common for a 2 month old to have few bowel movements. (We are
assuming a breastfed baby here).

My nephews all had to begin mineral oil with the introductions of solids.
They had normal stooling patterns during exclusive breastfeeding. But as
part of the picture for sensory defensiveness, which I've posted about
before, they became severely constipated with solids (even when just eating a
little bit). They had to be on the oil until age 7.

They complained about the taste and texture *and* about stomach cramping,
once they were old enough to talk.

On the basis of those "reports", I find it outrageous that an infant would be
placed on the stuff unnecessarily.
