Re: concern about baby being examined pr.

I've been reading what I can find on crying babies and came across this in
Patient Managment (Australia) Feb 1991, Michael J. Harris, The Crying Baby,
23-26. Under the heading <Excluding physical disorders> he says consider
1. Gastrointestinal disorders.....
2. Cow's milk protein intolerance (cmpi)....
3. Tenesmus [straining at stool] may be the result of hard bowel actions,
cmpi or just an exaggerated gastrocolic reflux [?reflex]. Some are cured by
a single PR examination. End of quote.

Perhaps some paediatricians are taught that PR examinations may be
therapeutic in some babies. I bet this was never examined by clinical trial
(???double-blind trial).

Anyway what I am looking for is any reference to gastrointestinal thrush as
a cause of unsettled babies (preferably not from candida / thrush
publications!). Thanks to anyone with any ideas (and already to Linda,
Leicha and Sara).
