Speaking of Ezzos, when my friend was in the process of confronting them, she
mentioned using a sling with her critically ill infant.
He responded by a reference to her as a "primitive, marsupial mother",
wrapped up in a very condescending tone.

Yes, Freud & Piaget have some....um.....weaknesses. However, they are not
revered in quite the lofty way in current thought as in the past. A lesser
known, fascinating developmentalist was Margaret Mahler (circa 50s) who
actually observed the day-to-day behavior of nursing toddlers! (I can't
imagine where she would have found them :>( ) Her writings are ahead of
her time. When we studied her, my fellow students (who didn't own their own
kids) thought she was really "out there" in suggesting that a toddler would
need to "check in" so frequently with mom and...GASP!....BREASTFEED!

Psychologists have done almost all of their work in Western Culture...which
is precisely why we need the field of anthropology....
