Yes, it is true. The USA did do this--in May 1994. By President Bill Clinton.
BFHI - Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative  (the real thing!)
BfHI - Breast feeding Health Initiative (not!)
IBFAN - International Baby Food Action Network
WABA - akc - I can't remember!

As glad I was that Clinton did something about breastfeeding and the WHO
Code, please note that nothing in US government supports it or mandates its
impelmentation. So...advertisers still advertise, etc. etc.
