Just to add to Marie's mentioning of beer or brewer's yeast.

I routinely recommend to the new mother in my bedside consult (24-48 hrs.
after birth) that she take 1 heaping tablespoon of powdered brewer's yeast
each morning. I jokingly say that it's true that beer helps have more milk,
but let's eliminate the alcohol and get right to the real reason why beer
is good for us. The B.Y.

Also, I mention that the B.Y. is like the B-vitamin family in a natural
state, and we all know that when we are ok with the B-vits our nervous
system is in better shape...and when our nervous system is in good shape
what happens?
We sleep better, we are less upset and crying (husband nods knowingly at
this comment - especially if he's been a witness to some post-partum blues)
and , bottom line, we'll enjoy our baby more because we'll be more relaxed.

The mother's who follow these instructions are benefitted enormously by it.

For what it's worth.......
