Hi Jan,

I certainly agree with you thoughts re: bfing and nursing.  Believe me, I am
not at all against using the word *breastfeeding* and do use it, almost
exclusively when talking about what I do, or to moms in a consult.  I just
believe that eliminating the word *nursing* from the vocabulary of natural baby
feeding is not a necessity.  There are people, as someone else said today
(sorry I can't remember who) who DO have trouble using the *b* word and if they
need to say nursing in order to successfully feed their baby, then I'm all for
it.

WWhat I guess I really have a problem with here is the insistance that one word
be used, exclusively.  Kathryn Detweiller said she agreed with Chele Marmet -
that breasts need to be brought out of the closet.  I, too agree!  I'm just not
willing to sacrifice a nurturing, natural way of baby feeding to vocabulary.
To end this tirade let me say just this:  I will continue to use
*breastfeeding* when speaking, but will never be unaccepting of *nursing*.
