Ever have one of those days that makes you feel doing what we do is worth every minute? I did today. I have worked for WIC nearly 20 years. There is one family I see every now and again. Mom has 7 children - ranging in age from teenager to 1 year. Nice family. She came in today and remembered me from when she needed help with breastfeeding. This was long before being an IBCLC was something I thought I could ever attain. She said I was talking to her on the phone when her then youngest was breastfeeding and she needed a little help. Today, she said "I saved her life" - her words - because I was there for her when she needed it - she never forgot me. She has successfully breastfed all 7 of her children. Of course, the mom herself deserves the credit, but it sure made my day. Our staff asked why I was crying....
