Avoiding cold things is a common cultural practice around the world, more so
in some places than others.  That's why we are always warned to wear our
coat and hat, avoid drafts etc.  I hear it in my ped practice every day from
mothers.  When I tell a Hispanic mom popsicles are OK for sore throats they
think I'm crazy :-)

Generally, I don't believe that most of us are seeing really infected
nipples often.  I do think moms ask for help sooner or simply switch to the
alternative :-(  Pat in SNJ
