Hi Ann Marie,
First, I would strive to reassure this mother. I've just done a google
search for her disease and did a bit of reading. My understanding is that
the protein in the urine is more a sign of her decreased renal function. Her
albumin may be a bit low, but this did not seem to be a major issue, unless
she is in the category of advanced disease. There is some discussion as to
whether a high or moderate protein diet is best for the patient. Mom should
discuss this with her physician.
I do not believe there will be any change in her breastmilk composition,
unless she was in an advanced stage. There can sometimes be a problem with
mom's Vit D status, so in this case, *perhaps* baby should get the vit D
drops. I think normal growth and development of the infant is the best
indicator that all is well, and I expect it will be. Just make sure baby is
going for regular health care visits.
