Ok - I know this has been discussed to some degree - but I'd like to revisit
if no one minds too much. ;)

There is a lot of controversy and confusion for parents and LC's alike when
it comes to artificial nipples. There are always new bottle nipples coming
out. I am now doing BF Q&A sessions at my local Babies R Us and have had a
chance to seriously peruse the product aisles and see the reason parents are
confused.

So - is there any consensus on the best type of bottle nipple for the
following situations (assuming babies will be or are being breastfed):

Babies with suck issues - babies without suck issues.

Currently my favorite for babies with suck issues is a long slender nipple
(like Dr Brown) to give more contact to the tongue among other things vs. a
wide based nipple that has less tongue contact than the breast.

For babies without suck issues I tell parents whatever the baby will accept
but NOT anything that is an orthodontic shape and go for the longest you can
get if possible (again full mouth and tongue contact).

Is there anything I am missing here? Thoughts are appreciated.please
respond privately. Thank you!

Jaye
