Having completed a hectic and frustrating week at work (hospital) there is
plenty to vent about. However in the midst of it all I had a paediatrcian
suggest that I ask a mother who had decided to bottlefeed to give
breastfeeding a try for a day or two. I was gobsmacked! In the end *he*
actually spoke to her and gently suggested she try breastfeeding! The same
guy also told a mother who had had a breast reduction and later a breast
augmentation that breastfeeding doesn't have to an all-or-nothing
situation - and - he didn't prescribe sulpiride which is standard on day two
for women who have had breast surgery! (She had plenty of milk on day 4.)
It's only taken 4 years - but little steps add up I guess.
Smiling and melting in a Cape Town heatwave.
