Thanks for sharing the info...I can't believe that someone can deny that 
as a LC you do not provide patient care.  I am a pediatric nurse 
practitioner...and the intimate contact that I provide in assisting a 
mom with breastfeeding has been the most difficult contact/paatient care 
skills that I have had to learn during my career!  I really enjoy 
providing lactation support, but I had to learn to feel comfortable in 
the role because, as we all know, breastfeeding support is one of the 
most intimate and emotionally charged direct care activities in hospital 
and community health.....which is why there are so few lactation support 
people available!
