Dear Ann {{{hugs}}}
Despite what you may think, you HAVE helped your daughter simply by being there for her and offering ongoing encouragement. How many mothers do we know who have faced similar breastfeeding concerns and have given up because of the lack of support, especially from their families?

I would definately look into the possibility of a submucosal cleft as well as continuing to look for crania-sacral therapists and/or child friendly chiropractics. I do hope that somebody here on Lactnet will have some contacts in the Charlotte, NC area.

Returning to work 12 hour shifts soon after birth is hard on any mother/baby pair. Has your daughter considered having her baby's caregiver offer a cup instead of a bottle? Baby Quinn may be able to manage a cup better as it does not involve latching or sucking. Please keep us updated with Quinn's progress.

warmly, norma, another grandma
