As a private practice lactation consultant, I have had breastfeeding
advocate friends give a consult from me as a baby shower gift.  Even if
things are going beautifully, the new mom "feels better" after having
that special one-on-one help that we can provide and answering her
breastfeeding her questions.  New moms ALWAYS have questions!
