(On lactnet we've been talking about how to make
assumptions that moms will breastfeed - I already do
that with moms who have given birth, "how is
breastfeeding going?", ready to help them, refer them,
support them, sympathise with them, etc. No one has
ever gotten upset with me- but I also read the woman
first.)

anyway- I wonder how to approach a mom who will be
adopting an 11 mo from China next month about
breastfeeding. This would be *so* easy if it were
someone I didn't know well, but it's my older sister.
My eldest gave birth and didn't breastfeed, my mom
didn't breastfeed- I can only assume my sister has
fertility issues, but we arent' close so I don't know.
I worry that I'll just squick her out if I'm too
direct- but I feel I need to put the option out there
for her. I'm even willing to start pumping again for
my niece, as limited in volume as that might be. (and
heaven knows, after all the patents from breastmilk
components, I *prefer* the idea of donating
privately.)

If anyone is near Nacogdoces, Texas or Atchison,
Kansas- maybe I could line up some in-person support
for my sisiter.
