This is another area where I've recently seen some conflicting information. Moms have traditionally been told do pump and discard their milk for a certain time after receiving radioisotopes. I'm not sure where I read it now but I saw a reference that said that if this milk is stored it may be fed to the baby after a certain amount of time because the radioactivity will be gone. Is this true? Anyone have references?
By the way, I can just see Jan Barger sitting in that breastfeeding class with her mouth duct taped. LOL!!!
That took an inordinate amount of restraint to sit and listen to that information! If they have an LC why isn't she teaching the class??
Thanks again in advance,
Linda Anderegg, BSN, RNC, IBCLC
