Phyllis-
Any chance the mom has started using birth control pills in the last two
months.  Many HCPs would be eager to have her on an estrogen/progesterone
combination pill-its "safer" or "more effective" in preventing pregnancy
when you're milk is "established" is the line she may have heard.  This
could have an impact on the quality of her milk and might make the
difference in the little guy's weight gain.
I was called to see a 6 m.o. boy yesterday because of zero weight gain in
the past 2 mos. Mom is BFing and plans to continue. No formula use here.
This was my first and only visit with mom & baby. The birth was at another
hospital.
