where C-sections are routine how do you do it day after day?!"

Pam, this sort of thing happens in my hospital all the time. Today happened to be a particularly bad day for this stuff. To top it off, today I tried to educate one of our SCN staff about the paced bottle-feeding that has been a recent topic of discussion on Lactnet. Her response was that she had fed thousands of babies over the years and they appeared to do just fine to her. She then pointed out that the baby she was currently feeding was pausing on her own (she would stop swallowing for about one second and take a quick breath). It is days like this one that I envy those of you in private practice who don't have to deal with this stuff so directly (although I know you have to deal with the consequences!)

How do you do it day after day? You take the comment by the patient who thanks you so much for all the help you have given her, or the set of twins that you got to the breast so well, keep these things close to your heart and take them out and admire them on days like this one.
