Your case has given me cause to think. I am currently involved with a letter
I wrote to a columnist at the local paper (In a MAJOR metropolitan city)
regarding the pharmaceutical industry (Although I mention formula too) and
their marketing practices. He wants to write a follow-up, and asked whether
he could use my name. I was inclined to say yes - but then after reading
about the way you were treated, I decided to withhold my last name and gave
him permission to use my first name and RN title only. Pity that standing up
for integrity requires me to hide my identity, and it is a shame that you
are having to go through what you are too. I just didn't want to risk that
the powers that be at my employer were holding hands with the people I am
complaining loudly about.

My husband has had this on the refrigerator since before the day I met him -
I read it frequently, and it has sometimes given me the reason to keep on
when I questioned whether what I was committed to was right or worthwhile,
maybe it will do the same for you.

Commitment
Commitment is what
transforms a promise into reality
It is the words that speak
Boldly of your intentions
And the actions which speak
louder than the words
It is making the time
when there is none
coming through time
after time after time
year after year after year
Commitment is the stuff
character is made of
The power to change
the face of things
It is the daily triumph of
integrity over skepticism

Hoping that in the end they see the light for you -
Michelle Meeks, RN
