I would advise regarding the frequency of pumping. Some moms wouldn't
be able to keep up an adequate supply nursing only q4h and only once
during the night. It would be even more difficult to do it while
pumping.
Based on that line of reasoning, I was able to get my sil to up her
pumping from 4h to 2h, and she started nursing baby during the night
(started cosleeping) and nursing freuquently on weekends. Her pumping
amount did go back up. as baby hit the 10 mo mark, he began refusing
bottles during the day. he would get solids, water from a cup, then
would nurse in the pm, during the night, in the am and with abandon on
weekends;)
Her first was bfed for about three weeks. This one is 2 in sept and
still nursing.
best of luck to you. mom is resistant to herbs/meds? the herbs could
be really effective if mom is resistant to other changes (more frequent
pumping or nighttime nursing...)
;)
