I was also going to suggest upping the frequency of pumping. I noticed a
decreased pumping output each month before menstruation and it usually
corrected itself by the end of my period.

I am not sure why you do not want to suggest herbs to this mom (fenugreek
worked wonders for me) but you might want to suggest upping the water
intake and eating oatmeal.

Having a "nurse in" on the weekends helped me too. (Not to mention gave me
much needed rest).

I know I am not a lactation consultant, but I did pump for 15 months and I
was able to get by without supplements (although it was a very close call
because my supply did drop around 6 mos or so).

I would also suggest that the person who takes care of baby while mom is at
work be the one to feed the solids. That way mom is getting maximum
nursing time and baby is still getting the taste of solids that might help
get from one ebm feed to another.
