Dear Patricia,
On your first thought regarding excessive IV fluids, I don't believe this has
been proven with any research studies, so how do we as the lactation
community change what is the current practices; birth weights recorded right
after birth and the 10% weight loss that is the bench mark?

On your second thought; babies are born with fluid reserve in their tissue
and an intake from drinking amnionic fluid while inside the uterus. This is
plenty of fluid to allow them to urinate for a while before they have any
intake outside of the uterus.
I'm curious to where you heard this.
Thanks for your thoughts.
