In a message dated 12/5/0 6:14:49 PM, Kathy ask:

<< I was wondering also if a baby might start doing his tongue
motions from back to front from bottles given in the hospital nursery? >>

Certainly possible. For some artificial nipple types, babies may have to
tongue thrust to stop the flow so that they can breath and swallow. If a baby
practices that tongue thrusting enough on the bottle nipple, they may repeat
this tried and true method on the mom's nipple--> sore nipples. If a baby
practices a narrow mouth position on an artificial nipple (as if sucking on a
straw) then uses this method on the breast--> ineffective
latch/breastfeeding. If a baby develops a preference for the artificial
nipple easy fast flow--> artificial nipple preference/breast refusal.
