From the papers I've found out that baby Tania was born at 26 weeks of gestation, after the mother had undergone a fetal transfusion, to save Tania's twin sister that, despite being double in weight than her sister, did not survived. According to the newspaper report Tania spent her first 55 days in intensive care, and I quote: "At the beginning she was fed intravenously, but doctors suggested that her mother should take care of her as soon as possible. And breastfeeding worked." The reports goes on to say that Tania does not need any further treatment, although the doctors have prescribed adding calcium and vitamins to mother's milk. I've already asked other LLL leaders and members of a Spanish speaking internet list to find out the details of this case, as I consider it would be very possitive to the advancement of breastfeeding in Spain. I'll keep you all posted.
