We had a premie (6 weeks early) transfered from a level 3 facility.  One of
our nurses asked her if she planned on breastfeeding.  She had no intentions
of putting a baby to her breast but, no one at the other facility had even
suggested it to begin with.  Anyway it was suggested that even if she pumped
and we gave it to the baby it would be a wonderful benefit for a healthy
start in life.  Well, that didn't sound too bad so she rented a pump.  Her
supply was fantastic and this mom was soooo pleased to provide her milk for
her baby.  They went home yesterday with monitor and all.  She never felt
pressured and was so comfortable and excited her whole stay.
