Oh boy...this one has been festering for quite some time in me...I find it
very frustrating to deal with pre OR post-IBCLC exam LCs who do not see the
value in investing in our profession. Many do not belong to ILCA, do not
read JHL (I at least skim every issue and I loan mine out to those who don't
get it--sometimes, losing my issues), do not read Lactnet, etc. I get the
feeling that many of these are just using their IBCLC as decoration after
their names. In particular, I have encountered several RNs, who admitedly
have many other responsibilities in their jobs, that behave this way.
However, I have to say that I have many non-lactation professional
responsibilities (as well as a young family) and I'm not very sympathetic to
this argument. How do others feel about this?
