you had some good comments/encouragement for this mom........

suggestions of some other things to say in this situation:

"oh yes this is normal and very good right now, your baby is stimulating a
very good milk supply *sooner* rather than later"......... if i am holding
the baby i would be likely to say to the baby something like "what a smart
little sweetie you are", then discuss time
management/prioritizing/significant other support.

"in the first few days after birth babies can be especially thirsty quite
frequently and he is making sure that he will be *well hydrated*".........

"baby's tummy is the size of a walnut right now so he needs frequent feedings
while he is increasing his bf skill.......with all this good practice he will
become more efficient and effective sooner"...........

to help her work toward "attaining the mothering role"/ reconcile her
expectations with reality, work into the conversation something along the
lines of: "yes, bf is a committment of your time in mothering and nurturing
your baby"..............
