I just wanted to add my 2 cents to this. My oldest daughter threw up (I
say this because it was a large amount), every day at least once or twice
from about 2 weeks til 3 months. She was a baby who wanted to be on the
breast continuously from 7pm-10pm, usually around 9 or so she would throw
up, it would start coming up while she was on the breast and would actually
be projectile if I sat her up. She would then cry and want to return to
the breast which made sense to me because it literally looked like the
whole feeding had come up. My MD at the time was very low key and when I
told him about this vomiting he said all babies spit up, she is gaining
well so no problem. I knew this was more than spitting up, but she didn't
act ill and the Dr. wasn't concerned, so I just let it go. At three months
she learned to suck her finger and never threw up like that again. She
just needed the extra sucking and wouldn't take a pacifier. Then when her
stomach got too full from all the foremilk she would throw up, and settle
down for the hindmilk, no wonder she gained well. If the baby in question
doesn't seem ill, I say feed him as much as he wants and if he throws up
and wants more feed him some more. Trust mother nature, your body, and the
baby and things should work out in time. Barb, WI, USA
