This jaundice case is certainly NOT breastfeeding related jaundice. The bili
rose too high, too fast to be related to the feeding issues. The baby should
go to the breast ad lib, if urine & stool output & weight gain is OK, no need
for additional intake. Certainly no need for formula! The IV fluids are
also not necessary if the baby is taking fluid well orally.
This jaundice was due either to a blood group incompatibility or to
spherocytosis; pretty much only a hemolytic process would produce that
pattern of bilirubin rise.
The baby will need to continue phototherapy, however, until the bili starts
to fall significantly.
