hi all from the thrush and tough case queen of the US

why is it no matter what proof you have unless you can culture it under a
microscope no one believes that it could be thrush?

why is it no one will believe that the 5 day olds extreme tounge tie might be
leading to it's less than steller weight gain ( and moms severe sore
nipples).

does anyone else out there believe like i am beginning to think that unless a
store/rental station/etc. has a real LC (certified or other wise) available
to follow though that NO special feeding assistance devices should be sold to
unsuspecting parents.

I have just spent the better part of the last 3 weeks bringing a 3 month old
back to breast, at 3 days post partum "helpful" visiting nurse suggested
that mom put a bottle nipple over her nipple (soon after mom started pc'ing
with formula). a couple of days later she went to her local breatfeeding
store (no lc's on staff) and got a silicone nipple sheild (no follow up, or
the suggestion she might call someone).

Mom continued to fight (yes i mean fight) with baby at every feeding to get
him to latch and then drink the extra formula that she thought the baby
needed. mom wanted to give up nursing and give the baby all formula. needless
to say without the comfort from mom baby started to refuse to eat at all from
the bottle.

Mom realized that maybe if she pumped her milk baby would start to eat again
(New yellow pages came out) she was looking for a breastpump. and landed on
my door step. 2.5 very long weeks later, baby finally is at the breast with
no extra equipment, (yeah mom). baby is now gaining weight ok, but as soon as
baby started to latch on she stopped pumping (arrrggh). baby will drink
expressed breastmilk, but still refuses ABM (smart baby). problem is that
even though baby is well over the 75th percentile on weight, happy, alert and
looking real good. mom still wants to get her 30 + ounces of ebm & abm into
the baby ( baby may take 16 on a good day ) and she is still fighting to get
the baby to take extra. She can't understand the the rest may be coming from
her. Pedi suggestion start on rice cereal (great help eh?) baby refuses this
too.

So mighty gurus of the net any suggetions?

On a lighter my first born (age 8, third grade, IQ just under 140, and of
course she knows it all, must be the great mumma nummas she got), was just
awarded the student of the month award at school, nice letter from principal,
certificate, picture in news letter and a bumper sticker for mom to proudly
display on her car.

All this right after she won the young artist compitition in march, got to
meet and get her award from the board of education members. Just got a
letter today from the english department stating that her peguin story has
made the finals in the young authors compition. what will be next? she IS
getting a bit to big for her britches. She is using every bit of her smart
alec, 1O grade vocabulary to try and get her way (ouch).

Now if anyone has any ideas on how to get this "perfect" over acheiver to
pick up after herself and keep her room clean, I am open to any suggestions.

On another note, my perfect spouse after reading my nomination bio for the
ilca vp postion, has graciously granted me permission to follow though with
the idea. Even stated that he is proud of me (hurry get the smelling salts)
and that i really do sound good on paper.

So i have take up enough band with for one night. Forgive me for the
digression, but sometimes even I (super mom, etc, etc, etc.) get a bit
overwhelmed with the rapid ups and downs. you'all on the net maybe one of
the few who really understand where i am coming from because you have walked
a mile in my shoes.

drop me a note via private e-mail sometime, I could use a pick me up lately.
the breast biz has roughed me up a bit the last few weeks.

Take care all and god bless
